Hello and thanks for your email, well as far as your question goes about petroleum jelly and tattooing.
I personally use petroleum jelly during the tattoo process, as for the healing process you should not use petroleum jelly pick up some tattoo after-care from element tattoo supply.
It does hold the ink together when tattooing and makes it easier to tattoo with. So the break down is this.
1) Yes! use petroleum jelly during a tattoo to hold the ink downat the tip of your tattoo tube and helps close the skin pours for the bleeding.
2) DO NOT! use petroleum jelly to heal your tattoo.( after care lotions work great , but non scented lotions work just fine)
Hope this helps your question to element tattoo supplies.
For the sake of information and to take it one step further, the use of petroleum based products to heal a tattoo should be avoided because it doesn’t allow the tattoo to “breath” It clogs the pores and becomes a detriment to the natual healing process which your body is taking to task.
I personally use a simple perfume free lotion such as Aveeno or Lubriderm and let nature take it’s course to heal it. Just keep it moist and free to breath as much as possible.
I have also been hearing great things about emu oil.
This blog is excellent. Keep up the good work, inspires me to keep building mine!
