Question)
So im just wondering, u seem to know about tattoos and how tat guns work, so im just wondering does the gun always, and i mean ALWAYS stay sterilized??? i know the needle has to be changed for every person, but does blood come in contact with the gun itself??? like for example my tattoo artist does a tattoo on someone who can infect other people with watever type of blood disease, does the artist just changes the needle and thats it??? like change the needle and thats it??? im free of danger or the next person??? ive always wondered about this, just tought id ask, it be really really really helpful since now im very anxious with certain things, specially getting tattoos, god forbid contracting something u know, ofcourse i know my tattoo artist, but in case i choose a different one lets say, am i really safe if the artist just changes the needle to a brand new one???, i have tattoos on my forearms, but now i wonder about the gun and its safety and sterilization.
thank u so much, i hope im not wasting ur time, im very curious and i want to go crazy on tats, but this sort of thing scares me a little.
My Answer:
Thanks for the email. this is a great question and this is why you would want to go to a professional tattoo artist and shop. Not just a fly by night tattoo shop As for the machines we use tattoo machines bags to cover our tattoo machines, but back in the day when machine bags were not available we would use sandwich bags to cover our machines, so if we needed to grab our machine for any reason it would be covered and there would be no cross contamination. Just like when you see artist cover their telephones, just in case they needed to answer the phone. but when your tattooing you would not need to grab your tattoo machine unless it went out of tune, but then you would do a break down and adjust your machine. as for the needles, pre sterilized tattoo needles are available these days, so tattoo artist will just be disposing of the tattoo needles into a bio hazard container when finished a tattoo. to ensure you are gonna get a safe tattoo do some research on the shop you choose. talk to the tattoo artist ask him/her their procedure while tattooing ask him/her if you can watch their set up. ask questions don’t be shy but don’t be annoying lol remember this tattoo will be forever.
