Why Does My Tattoo Machine Not Work.

The first two things to check for if your machine all of the sudden quits on you, Contact points, Tattoo Machine Capacitors, Power Supply, Foot Pedal, or Clip Cord. When you check these two, you should also check you other machine to see if it will work. If it in fact is the machine and is not fixable at that moment, you can always switch your needle bar and tube to the other machine and be able to reset the point gap in order to finish the tattoo.

If your machine just won’t work at all, you probably have an open in your circuit or a shortage. You want to make sure all your points are clean at first. The circuit will break if there is something caught between them. To open the contact hold the armature bar down with your thumb and blow hard on the points. If the blowing doesn’t clean them then you can try pulling a small strip of paper through the points when they are closed or use a nail file to clean out the contact. Then if that works you might want to readjust the point setting slightly so that you get that “buzz” at the right sound again.

what if the build-up between the front spring and contact screw returns after 1-2 minutes of lining. the machine will run realy good with a clean buzz after cleaning the points for a few minutes and then go to crap. It’s a Iron Cross by Rick selvia and normaly runs very well. thanks ~Adam~

you should try to change your capacitor it seems shot and could be the problem with the contact screw getting that build up.

why are you giving out info to just anybody, and why are you not doing any background checks? this asshat like joey is the only person youre helping and in fact you are not helping, you are helping to put people in harms way by giving enough info for people to be dangerous

  6. Bossman says

That is assonine to say….I believe people like you are the reason other people are forced to go to tattoo shops where egotistical artists think that there “knowledge” is worth thousands of dollars…..I just went to find out about an apprenticeship and the guy said it would be 4,000$ And even though I have given almost 100 tattoos in my kitchen to at least 95 happy customers…..I am considered a dumbass because I dont have the money to throw at some jerkoff who thinks he has some sacred info that can’t be given without money. It’s bullshit…Making things dangerous is when you DONT give the right info to people and they do instead what THEY think is correct…THAT’S how people get scarred up and nasty tattoos. If you were a quality artist who does good work, then you should not care that someone wants to learn from you, because you should know you’re a better artists… It sounds to me like these guys are so fucking scared that they will spawn a good artist that they don’t want to contribute…. It’s complete bullshit. But I do agree that background checks should prrbably be done, this day and age you cant be trusting anyones info just because they told you to lol

I’m having problems I push my foot pedal and the power light goes off on my power supply does anyone know what the cause of this is. I can’t get my gun to even buzz and I just did a tattoo last night.

  8. Eddie Tana says

How is the power settings.. it might need to be turned up a bit.

  9. Brittney says

My power suply was working just fine and started cutting out. There is copper looking coil around the plugins to the foot pedal and to my leads. When the two copper pieces touch my machine works???? But my pedal does not make the machine run. Could this be the pedal or something in the power supply??

  10. Diabolos says

I adjust the screws check my connections everything’s clean on both guns try again and nothing. Power is going to the box , display lights up but from there out no power. Wtf is wrong with it?
